PAGAN'S MIND regret to announce that the last half of the band's North American tour in support of STRATOVARIUS is cancelled. The second leg in Canada along with the three west coast U.S. dates will be with Stratovarius and local support bands only. The band would like to thank Stratovarius and their managment for attempting to resolve the problems that forced us to make this difficult choice. The obstacles placed in the band's path were numerous and the decisions made were completely out of the band's control. Needless to say, the guys are crushed by the recent turn of events. In addition to the already announced headline show in St. Paul, MN, PAGAN'S MIND will play a few more shows on their own. Check out the tour section for full details. August 4th ~ DVD news
PAGAN'S MIND has just completed work on its first DVD, to be released by the band's own label and distributed by Indie Distribution. A street date will be announced shortly. The DVD will be released in three different versions: an audio-CD and -DVD containing footage/recording of PAGAN'S MIND's November 1, 2008 show at Rockefeller Music Hall in Oslo; a double DVD with the Rockefeller show as well as a disc with bonus material; and a limited-to-1000-copies hand-numbered three-disc version with the audio CD, the two DVDs — including more bonus material — plus an autographed photo and a guitar pick. Work has commenced on the band's fifth studio album, which the band hopes to turn in for an early summer 2010 release, once again in cooperation with Limb Music, the label that has released all four previous studio albums by PAGAN'S MIND. [read more] Just before their show supporting BRAINSTORM at their gig on March 21st 2008 at Vienna's "Szene", I got the chance to talk to bass player Steinar Krokmo and drummer Stian Kristoffersen and get some inside information from the band on PAGAN'S MIND, their new album "God's Equation" and why Scandinavians chew something called "Gothenburg Rape"... SB: You've been on tour with Brainstorm for almost 3 weeks now, how was the tour for you? Steinar: Excellent! This is excellent promotion for our band, and this is only the second time we've been to Austria... We've been here once before with Fates Warning, where we did Austria and Holland; but now with Brainstorm we've been lucky to do quite a few countries more...[read more] Choosing this year's 'Album Of The Year' was a very easy job. After the first time I listened to the new Pagan's Mind album, I knew that 'God's Equation' was really special. The album is the perfect blueprint of how a great prog metal album should be: Innovative, creative, great skills, perfect songwriting and a killer production.
