Dear Viggo,
I really adore your guitar work with PM! I play guitar too and I was wondering if you could get me on my way learning some PM. Maybe you could explain a certain lick for example or anything...; You rock Cool

Thank u very much Smile

Well the funny thing is that i do not know how to read music of any kind, i allways just played by ear, that means that i havent written down any arrangements on tabs etc eighter . Guess i would have to show myself hehe, but i think some other guitarplayers made tabs of PM songs and maybe they are avalible online somewhere.

Cheers, Jorn Viggo

Heya Jorn Viggo!
Just watching a DVD by Allan Holdsworth - quite a different style of music I usually listen to.
My question: Do you know Holdsworth and if yes: What do you think about his technique?
And some more: Terje Rypdal, Jukka Tolonen - what's your opinion to these guitarists?

Hello Mr. Jorn Viggo, I think I have to tell you how much I admire your skills, songwriting and technique when it comes to your guitar playing, maybe you hear this everyday, but I really need to say that you stay among my very favorite guitar players of all time.
Heheh now the questions, I've read that you don't really have any musical training whatsoever, but I was wondering about the way you write songs, you just like start playing until something comes up!? Because I find it difficult to compose something as amazing as any PM song without any knowledge in the musical department (theory I mean), there must be some scales that you prefer or use (I know your solos are full of pentatonic scales).
And just another question, how's your guitar tuned!? I thought for God's Equation was a Dropped C#, am I right?, and what about the other albums!? As far as I can tell it just seems that they're in standard tuning.

Last thing, I started doing a MIDI of your song Resurrection (Back In Time), and I was wondering if you could hear it and give some feedback, it's not finished, but it is something. I would really appreciate it Smile
Here's the link for the MIDI:

Hello, Jorn.
I'm a big fan of PM, and your music. I just love how you can play technicly and create great melodies in the same time.
And I love your tones and sound too. So, it would be great, if you could tell me about you gear(I know, you're using peavey 5150 II and Music Man), especially about pedals, and how your rig is configured.
p.s: Sorry, if I have a lot of mistakes))

Hi!

I'm a Danish guy who really wants to know how your guitar is tuned. There has been a lot of different speculations so I figured I could go right to the source.

I'm currently tabbing your song Back to the Magic of Childhood part 2 - Exploring Life, and there's a part in the song where you reach a low B - I'm not really sure whether it's only the bass who plays the low B...

ANYWAYS... I just wanna know how the guitar is tuned in that specific song.
Thanks a lot! :)

From Jørn Viggo:

Hi,

99,9 prosent of what I do with Pagans Mind is regular 440 tuning with a 6 string guitar, but i often use a D tuner on the low e string. I never used a 7 string guitar or tuned my guitar down more than a half step on a recording.
The low B you refer to, is probably a power chord backed up by a low B on the bass guitar.

Cheers, Jørn Viggo
